This work responds to the 2014 annexation of Crimea, triggered by Ukraine’s Maidan revolution and the subsequent collapse of the Yanukovych government.   Russia seized the peninsula by force, a move unrecognized by the international community and the UN. This sparked an undeclared war, resulting in Russia’s expulsion from the G8 and ongoing sanctions.
