Alexandru Raevschi is a Moldovan-born artist and independent curator based in Bonn, Germany.

Working across installation, performance, painting, moving image, digital sculpture, sound, and spatial interventions, he develops projects that integrate physical and virtual environments.

His recent work engages technologies such as AI and VR as active agents in the production of perception, identity, and contemporary experience.

His interdisciplinary practice examines regimes of visibility and invisibility, as well as the social construction of identity and perception within post-Soviet and broader transnational contexts. He develops research-oriented projects exploring the relationship between individual and collective experience, institutional systems, and the production of historical narratives, with a particular focus on how systems of power shape collective understanding and forms of social participation.

He studied monumental and easel painting at the “Ion Creangă” Pedagogical State University, architecture and interior design at the State University of Technology, political and economic sciences at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Moldova, and contemporary art at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design in Norway. He was also a doctoral researcher at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki.

In parallel with his artistic practice, Raevschi has developed curatorial and organizational initiatives focused on independent cultural production and experimental forms of collaboration.

Since 2022, he has directed the Center for Contemporary Culture in Chișinău, Moldova, an independent platform supporting contemporary artistic and curatorial practices.

His works are held in public and private collections across Europe and beyond.
