Invasion of Interpretations

During the many historical eras, the remains of the Roman fortification served not only to protect the city of Regensburg but also to mention the rich past of this place.

I would like to mention that the physical barrier in any form can influence the development of social values. This may be the humanitarian direction, economical and political structure of any geopolitical space, a conscious and subconscious feeling of peace at the individual level, taken particular person and lot of other things that surround us in everyday life.

Due to this, our civilization accumulates its own heritage, importance, and meaningfulness. Moreover, the historical heritage cannot be destroyed as part of an architectural ensemble.

It is a monolith of knowledge, as an experience that passes through the ages and carries with it the depth of human existence.

Through the implementation of my interactive installation in the public space of the city of Regensburg, I would like to build bridges between the accumulated experience of this physical place and today’s inhabitants.

In addition, it should be noted that the material used for the implementation of the project, having a mirror effect, reveals the structure of human memory, its nonlinearity, transmitting messages through subjective reflection, which is just the reverse side of the images that accompany the historical development of the person, the objectivity that it engenders.

This contributes to the formation of a dialogue within the public situation regarding the importance of discussing the essence of identification, analyzing personal emotional experience.

Special thanks to: Regina Hellwig-Schmid, Anne Marie Türk, Maria Lang, Patrizia Schmid-Fellerer, restorators from Cathedral of St Peter’s and definitely all people who was involved in these interesting and complicated processes.
