Don’t yearn, anyway we will be together
Today’s contemporary paradigm increasingly erased national borders and, consequently, the unique cultural idiosyncrasies of individual nations.
This created a widening ontological gap between historical heritage and the living generation.
While the youth integrated seamlessly into globalized values, they often remained alienated from the foundational components of their ancestors’ lives.
Although evolutionary processes remained unstoppable, the transmission of information between generations had historically been a natural phenomenon.
At that time, the preservation of national values was often relegated to state policy. However, when an individual made a conscious attempt to preserve their own identity, they gained the agency to simulate and determine the developmental trajectory for future generations.
The project was conceived as a series of nomadic interventions within urban public spaces hypermarkets, parks, and streets where art could engage in a direct communicative encounter with the public.
The installation utilized mobile stands (160 x 110 cm) featuring portraits of a disappearing generation.
Simultaneously, a sonic landscape was broadcasted, composed of field recordings from Moldavian villages: ancient songs, customs, polyphonic voices, and the specific acoustic textures of the countryside.
By expanding the boundaries of communication, I sought to bridge the distance between the audience and the message.
In that reality, this form of artistic articulation became a vital element in reclaiming the dialogue between the spectator and the lost “cultural code”.
The project was realized as a combination of performative practice with the use of photographic material.
