“Chsn-Ksc”(Chisinau-Kosice)

At one point, we all dispersed in different directions, seeking to define our national identities through their unique similarities and differences. However, we soon found ourselves held hostage by a new form of self-organization within our internal and external environments.

These emerging factors triggered a process of depersonalization, dissolving our identities into a grey uniformity and alienating us from the natural conditions of our previous existence.

Historically, our territories moved in a singular direction, with a shared emphasis on the development of the public sphere.

Until this day, the architectural component has remained a fundamental element in how we perceive and shape the physical environment of public space.

What meaning have we assigned to our Soviet architectural heritage?

What alternative to the past do we offer today? How has the public sphere evolved?

These are the central issues that were explored through my urban and artistic research, tracking the transformations that have been happening in our countries since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The project incorporates materials gathered from diverse sources. Photo and audio recordings were collected in the public spaces of the cities Chişinău and Košice. Archival research into the urban peculiarities of the Soviet era informed the development of 3D designs tailored for the East Slovakian gallery. The gallery’s glass facade served as a canvas for an interactive installation with the city’s public space. This blurred the boundaries between interior and exterior, fostering an active dialogue with the residents of Košice.

The project was presented as a multi-sensory photo-video-sound installation.
