May I stand on the grass!?

“May I stand on the grass?”

These were the first words of a little boy who emerged from the air raid shelter at the Azovstal factory in the devastated Ukrainian city of Mariupol.

Since 2021, the situation surrounding Ukraine became increasingly tense and explosive, leading to an all-out war with numerous casualties among both military and civilians.

In exploring this reality, I focused on creating 3D objects and paintings that embody various fragments of the social fabric within the current context.

In addition, in this work, I explored the dialogue between digital reality and human perception.
The “glitch” or “broken code” aesthetic serves as a metaphor for memory reconstructing the past from fragments distorted by traumatic events through the “lens of experience.”
While this subjective perspective may clarify certain details, it inevitably refracts the world through the filters of personal and cultural codes, transforming the disintegration of monolithic structures into the fluidity of lived experience.
