3 years, 4 months, 26 days, 9 hours and 10 seconds

(The statistical average tenure of each Chancellor—specifically, the period of time one of the 29 Chancellors held power over a span of 100 years.  Moreover, this video features original, archived autographs of German chancellors).

Over the past 100 years, 29 chancellors have come to political power in Germany.

Each governed the country for different intervals; however, each of them had a real chance to radically change the political vector, ideology, economic development, education, and science in one direction or another.

These changes formed the general atmosphere within the state and its relationship with neighbors within the framework of a common world picture.

From this, it follows that the level of responsibility of each individual (in our case, the German Chancellor) to the country and society is identical.

For this reason, the time interval indicated in the project title denotes the average length of time that one chancellor held political power over the last hundred years in Germany.

It is also for this reason that the time allocated to each of the German chancellors’ signatures is equal to 100 seconds. Spending an identical amount of time on each of them symbolizes the general structure and interrelation of political elites and society within a single geopolitical space.
